California Assessment of Pupil Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
Etiwanda School District Family Reminder
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Each year students in grades three through eight in the Etiwanda School District participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).
Tomorrow, your child will take the following test(s), depending on their grade level:
· Smarter Balanced Assessments for Language Arts and Mathematics – grades 3-8
· California Science Test (CAST) – grades 5 and 8 only
The Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments and the CAST are online tests that measure what your child knows and is able to do. Results help identify gaps in knowledge or skills early on so your child can get the support needed to be successful in school.
The testing period for our school will extend from April 15th – May 3rd.
You are an important part of your child’s education. To help your child get ready for the test you may consider:
· Talking about the test with your child so they are not scared or anxious about the process
· Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast before testing.
